Silk Road Dance Company Performs in Toronto at Tirgan Iranian Festival.
Silk Road Dance Company participated in Tirgan, the world's largest Iranian festival, July 21 - 24, 2011, attended by 120,000 people. The award-winning ensemble presented two concerts and a dance workshop.
OUR REPERTOIRE With a repertoire of over 130 dances, Silk Dance Company has presents Persian, Uzbek, Tajik, Afghan, Uighur, Kazakh, Russian Roma (Gypsy), Bollywood, Georgian, Azerbaijani, Egyptian, Moroccan,Algerian, Khaleegy, and
Indian dance traditions.

Since 1995, the Central Asian Dance Camp (CADC) has provided opportunities for dancers in the US to study traditional Uzbek, Tajik, Uighur, Afghan, Azerbaijani and Persian dance with master instructors. This year, CADC participants will be introduced to the basics of Uzbek, Persian, and Kathak dance. They will learn Azerbaijani and Uzbek choreographies. Class sessions include history, cultural context, music, and costuming. In addition, students will study the Uzbek “Doire Dars,” a demanding Uzbek dance etude incorporating fundamental elements such as traveling steps, arm movements, turns, as well as shoulder and head movements.
The 3-day dance camp includes the day-long Silk Road Dance Festival on Saturday, November 19. Open to the public , as well as CADC camp participants, the Silk Road Dance Festival features a bazaar, a Central Asian teahouse, a fashion show and workshops. The festival culminates in a concert featuring the guest artists and the Silk Road Dance Company.
